No Greater Joy

Another phychosis...

The tears of angels stain my opaque heart
with abandoned dreams and forsaken schemes
betraying yesterday’s imprudent hope of mediocrity

Thoughtless longings for a living tomorrow
deny the sweetness of death which
once again succumb to my unsuccessful
attempt at life

If I could only die before I wake
my prayers would know no greater joy

Do you remember fairytales and childhood themes
of billy goats and greener grasses growing
just on the other side of that forbidden land...
where the hiatus of reality is the only thing real
and nothing comes true in a happy ever after way...
that land of taskmaster fantasies is faithful to so many
who look beyond the prison of the moment
for the chains of yesterday’s illusion
longing for the freedom of former pain

My last breath will gladly welcome the end
My last breath will gladly be my last
My last breath will gladly be
My last breath...
