Have you ever loved a lover
in a Valentine’s Day way
with imported wine and diamond hearts
but nothing real to say
Have you ever loved
with long stem roses
adorned with baby’s breath
yet empty words of expectation
were all that could be said
Have you ever loved a lover
with only you in mind
thinking chocolate covered kisses
would veil the perfect crime
Designer bows and pretty paper
Franklins spent just like a dime
empty words of adoration
from my perfect Valentine
You love me in the moment
when it seems right to you
you shower my dreams
with see-through fantasy
you tell me that you love me
using Cinderella rhyme
but your love is no more lasting
than a store bought valentine
OH this is so well written
and the ending crush!!!!!!
Excellent twist and write.
too often so true...

Well written Lori
I'd rather get a bunch of daises, given from the heart for no reason than all the roses of the world if there was nothing behind them
Well done...I know many can relate to your well expressed poem...

This is a very unique way of looking at Valentine's Day. Yes, Valentine's Day is just one day, but true love lasts a lifetime.
