You can see a photo of the bird if you go to my profile at FB.....hopefully soon I'll figure out how to do it here.

Poem Artwork

My skin burns hot but I made the choice to stay outside.
How could I say no to the joyful chirping of the Chick-a-Dee?
The wind gently breezed past me removing the growing heat.
Kissing me in places I dare say he would have been slapped for.

The Chick-a-Dee danced from branch to branch,
I did not know until today that they can hang upside down,
Peering with curiosity that we shared in that moment.
Who was smiling the most, I will never know.

This bird really does sing with a chick-a-dee sound,
Braver then the predators that hunt him from above.
His fluffy feathers puckering up as he sang his song.
I was his audience clapping with thunder inside.

Our worlds met, no need for human language,
Awareness beyond our present understandings,
Interrupted, by a fool who did not understand silence.
But my skin thanked him as I walked into the shadows.

Ah! This is great. The chickadees always come to visit me when I am reading on the deck. They come very close, they are noisy little things but so very welcome. Thank you, Kate. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Having five bird feeders in our yard, watching the brave flickering Chick-a-Dee's be there two feet from where we stand, I relate to this writing. Oh what an ingenious and blissful line -- the wind "Kissing me in places I dare say he would have been slapped for." That is beyond playful and salacious....as we women know the feel of the breeze up the skirt or in the blouse....very sensational writing. ~~ Diana

Nicely done. Communing with nature in whatever form is delightful. Uh, maybe not so much hurricanes, but . . .
