I guess the object of this lesson is never think you know what bears won't eat or drink as the case may be.

The Day We Had a Visitor

Up on our mountain where troubles are small.
Where you have to look hard to find them at all.
We were getting low on supplies and had to go to town.
We always hate to leave our mountain and not be around.

But we locked up the food in the freezers we use.
So the bears can’t get it, we have too much to lose.
The only thing out was five gallons of oil shoved in a pot.
And a gallon of hot sauce beside it believe it or not.

On the shelf on the porch were boxes of mac and cheese.
But that wouldn’t entice anyone, not even the bees.
So off we went to enjoy our day and fill our needs.
I might even buy some vegetable seeds.

When we arrived home we had the shock of the day.
The peanut oil, hot sauce was gone, empty I’d say.
There were claw marks galore in the plastic containers,
The conclusion we came to was a total no brainer.

A bear visited us and what a mess he left behind.
He even took the mac and cheese and all he could find.
Like the hummingbird feeders and fly killing trap.
We couldn’t help feel sorry for this thieving old chap.

Can you imagine what the peanut oil and hot sauce will do?
Not to mention the mac and cheese, the next time he goes poo.
That was the last visit we had from any old bear,
I think he told his friends what he had to eat there.

You have me laughing so hard my face hurts! Oh and yes, a bear does.......in the woods. Bears are not the only critters that will scavange your goodies, so next time watch out...

Be always safe,

You are back in the groove and writing such smooth writes, and funny ones too. Glad that bear didn't sticvk around til you came home. Bears sure do destruction when any kind of food is around. I hope he enjoyed the mac and cheese very much. Uncooked it must have been crunchy indeed. Good job, again Bonnie. Keep it going.
