Meet it Head On
When the storms approach, I like to meet them head on.
By sitting on our front porch until the storm is done.
Watching the lightning strikes and hearing the thunder roar.
I can’t take my eyes off it as the winds begin to soar.
Blowing like a colossal breeze that takes my breath away.
I just keep sitting there watching the skies of a frightful grey.
The supremacy that this storm holds could destroy any man.
It dares you to keep on standing, while its strikes hit the land.
But for some outlandish reason, I can’t take my eyes away.
It holds me transfixed to the spot, daring me not to stay.
The chills run up and down my spine each rumble that I hear.
When the lightning strikes close by, the chills begin to sear.
When it’s done and over, a tranquil feeling finds my soul.
For the calm is so unnerving, and begins to take its toll.
That storm took all the energy from every living thing.
I can’t wait for the next storm, to see what it will bring.
