A Sad, Embarrassing, Funny Trip

He wasn’t looking forward to this trip, sadden by the task ahead.
He was going back to say goodbye to someone dying in a hospital bed.
It was his beloved grandfather the man he respected above all men.
A man with only a sixth grade education but impressed him time and again.

We arrived at the airport late and it made things hectic and rushed.
We had to run like crazy for the gate and all of us were flushed.
While standing in line for the commuter jet, I had to use the rest room.
By the time we boarded the plane I was dancing around like a silly loon.

So as we took our seat, I asked the stewardess if I could go to the ladies room.
She said, “We’ll be taking off right away, don’t worry Ms. it should be real soon.”
But when we got into the air the turbulence was unbelievably strong.
“Sorry Ms, the seatbelt sign will probably be on the whole flight long.”

She saw my face and took pity on me as the plane seemed to settle a bit.
Okay, you can go now but please be careful and try to make it quick.
If I didn’t have to go so bad I would have kissed her right then and there.
But I ran as fast as I could to the little room by the attendance chair.

I just sat down on the potty when it felt like we collided with a wall.
I bounced up and down, back and forth bouncing off the ceilings in the stall.
Totally embarrassed I sat there for quite awhile, and then peeked out my head.
Everyone on that little plane turned, looked and laughed, nothing was even said.

As I walked down the aisle trying to hold on to what was left of my bruised pride
I saw my son and husband’s faces all red with the laughter they held inside.
“How did everyone know I was in there for they all turned at the same time.”
“Do you see the plate above the door to the cockpit, it’s a bloomin blinkin sign.”

“But the noise that came from that little room, no one needed to look at the sign.”
“For we heard you while you were in there yellin, and bangin the entire time.”
But the most embarrassing part was when I was leaving the little plane.
The stewardess still laughing hysterically said, “I am so glad you came.”

Hi Bonnie May
Flights are usually so boring. It's nice to have something to look back on with a smile. Cheers! Liz

Humor in the face of tragedy can often relieve us in many ways.

And I see my brother Georg is peeing on the runway, again!

Don't be embarrased Bonnie, once, in dead winter a group of us took off from Aberdeen (Scotland,UK) to Oslo (Norway) in a fourty seaters turbo prop plane that would take around three hours from A to B.
No Stewardess though, just pilot and co-pilot but four enormous thermos brimming with coffe (the plane's warming system was kaput) if you didn't want to freeze plenty of hot coffee was the answer.
The plane didn't have toilette, WC, rest-room......or empty bottles.
When the plane touched down and stopped an immediate line of needing travelers pee on the snow like there wasn't tomorrow with a great steam cloud raising in front of the panoramic Arrival's Hall window where a couple of hundred of waiting their fly got a extraordinary view, and we got a couple of Kodak flashes.

Hehe, anything to do with Planes is sure to please me, and though it was sad in part, embarrassing, alls well that ends well, though the little girls room on planes is about as accomodating as on buses LOL. You did well to keep a level head mate.
Hugs for this
Ch'erie xx
