An Unbelievable Tale

Fred and Kay are now in their twilight years,
They’ve shared many joys and many tears.
A closer couple you could never find.
For they are locked together in soul and mind.

But now that age hit them, her with arthritis and he with confusion,
They’re so cute together having funny experiences and delusions.
Fred had a fall in the middle of the night when he got up to pee.
He prayed reverently to God, to somehow make it light so he could see.

He went to the doctors a few weeks later for just a routine check.
When the Dr. asked how he was, the Dr. had chills go up his neck.
Fred told him about his prayer and how God comes to him at night.
He said, “Doc when I get up to go pee, God turns on and off the light.”

“What?” the old Doc said and held his smiles & doubts just out of site.
He could hardly hold back his laughter but what if Fred is right?
“No, its true Doc, God answered my painful and tearful prayer.”
“That’s great Fred to have such faith,” & quickly got him out of there.

The old Doc couldn’t get Fred off his mind all throughout his day.
So he decided to talk to his wife to see what Kay would say.
“Oh hello Doctor is something wrong with my dear Fred?
“Well,” said the Doc, “it seems Fred’s got strange ideas in his head.”

“What do you mean doctor, is something seriously wrong with my sweet Fred?”
“I didn’t know Fred was such a religious man, so I’ll tell you what he said.”
“Kay, he told me a story about a prayer he made regarding his nightly safety.”
“He told me God turns the light on and off for him so that he can safely pee.”

“Light goes on, light goes out, when he goes to the bathroom by your den.”
“OH NO, that's the kitchen!” Kay said, “That crazy old coot is peeing in our fridge again!”

Oh Bonnie! this is going directly to the library, it is too good to just wander into the forgetable beyond.
For a moment you took me to the paranormal, unexplainable, faith against skepticism and then...WHAN! what a punch line dear, thanks a lot for the laughs! ! !
