God bless our soldiers and their wives...so far apart but hearts always touching...

Poem Artwork

Hearts at Half Mast

Their hearts are at half mast as they protect our land.
There’s no way they are whole, no way they that they can.
For part of that heart is missing, the part they love the most.
That heart is many miles away, farther than coast to coast.

For those two hearts are yearning for the other to return.
But the battles not over yet, their hearts will continue to churn.
The loneliness that each of those hearts feel is tremendous pain.
They ask for so very little, just wanting to be together once again.

Let’s remember the sacrifice that these soldiers and wives feel.
For it’s very intense and hugely unselfish, but it is absolutely real.
And let this violent war end soon so the hearts can again be one.
This is the victory I have been praying for, when this war is done.

Try to have a happy Valentines Day, with both hearts standing by.
So when your hearts can be rejoined they both will be flying high.

Bonnie May

a Valentine's Day message in honor of those wonderful men and women in our Armed Forces and their families -- that give selflessly to defend freedom and democracy's cause around the globe -- separation of bodies does not separate their hearts -- much peace and love to you Bonnie, my dear friend -- Jon Michael

I know it was terribly difficult for my sister and her children to be without her husband for two plus years while he was away in Iraq. My heart goes out to those who have to survive that ordeal.

The cost of freedom is often paid for in the tears of the ones who love the freedom fighters...nice tribute to soldiers and families of soldiers...

Amen. What a great poem on the hearts at half mast. Your thoughtfulness knows no limits. May they be reunited as quickly as possible. The number of suicides of our soldiers was higher than those killed in the war in January 2009. What a crime. And of course if a soldier seeks mental health help he or she is no longer allowed their purple heart. Another crime. And where is that spring poem? This poem is so touchingly awesome. Liz

POWERFULLY penned reminder that it isn't only the soldiers, sailors, airmen who sacrifice, but their families, as well - well done, Bonnie.
