The Game

I sat here wondering why I even bothered,
I knew the truth; it was just a game to you.
To see how many ways you could manipulate others
to believe your lies, leading them astray to follow your path.

You were supposed to be full of understanding and compassion.
Have you ever looked up the meaning of trust, better yet faith?
Do you even have a conscious or is it your pleasure
to do acts of malice because it suits your mood?

Are we all pawns at your disposal to be played at your will?
Will you hastily destroy others in your path to reach your goal?
Oh, I almost forgot my manners; may I ask what your goals are?
Did you say to win? Shaking my head laughing, are you so clueless?

Have you learned nothing thus far in your greedy quest?
Ahhhhh, that is right you forgot the most important thing,
the rules of the game, what did you do; just toss them away
thinking that they were not important, you played the fool well.

Yes my friend, you won at your game left alone to twisted thoughts.
Greed in your heart will consume what morals you have left
and once more you will play the game only to lose by the rules;
you know, the ones you carelessly threw away, the ones I offered you.

(Yes, I know your name, “fate”.)

Hi Tracey,
Sad how we can all relate,
To the fickle hand of fate,
But we must never hesitate,
In our contempt of its hate
