There's a cave inside a mountain

where a hermit hopes to see ,

the light of Christmas morning

where its as peaceful as can be .



Spending Christmas in a cave

is not much to look forward to .

The hermit lights a candle

and hopes his wishes all come true .



His cave's within the heart ,

where he has hidden himself away ,

but when the miracle of Christmas comes ,

all will be ok .



He thought of a small stable ,

and the family who had come there .

He somehow felt connected

so he knelt down and said a prayer .



He joined his hands together and said ,

"Nothing do I own .



" Thank you Jesus , Mary and Joseph ,

I thought I was alone .



This life I have is but a journey

until I'm home with you .

Through the dark night of my soul

I've walked not knowing what to do .



Its brought me here where I found

the darkness was taken away .

I know in the world I live

somehow love will will find a way .



Jesus looked into his heart and whispered

" I know who you are .

You have become a prisoner

locked up in an ivory tower .


In a cave within your heart
you've dug a deep and empty hole ,

but you've crawled through the darkness within to the light of your soul ."



There is a void in everyone

that only God can fill .

The echo of what the hermit heard ,

is always with us still .



Christmas is a time to share

be it where no one can come in .

There nwithin the cave of Christmas

a new journey can begin .
