The alarm clock went off I shuddered from sleep, then I fell out of bed landing in a heap.
I tripped over a toy car,
slipped in the shower and was black and blue in less than half an hour .

Scrambled down my breakfast and then stretched with a yawn,
I picked up the paper lying on the lawn .
The wife got up with a smile,
"Morning", she said ,

"Who dumped all that top soil near the garden shed?"

I jumped and ran out to the washing line , my wife was laughing out ,"It's April fool time"

I took a deep breath and wandered back inside.

I had to do something to restore some pride, so I said ,
"Go wake the kids it's time for school"

I'll tell you there's no fool like an April fool , for off she went on her merry little way, completely forgetting it was Saturday .
