This is an unabashed plug for one of my favorite writers here on the den

He never fails to amaze me
The way the words fall from his fingers
Seemingly without effort, without thought
Just lying there waiting for the world to read
To discover, to contemplate, to absorb
And I do just that
Reading as if drinking on a dry day
I take it all in, wondering at the world
A world I don’t know, and can never know
But one I can relate to
And have from the day I first read him
I get high with every drug he ingests
Hurt with every spill he takes
I laugh and cry and feel omnipotent
While I’m understanding vulnerability
As if for the first time
I am amazed, enthralled, captivated
And for a short time
This world and its ups and downs
Drift a little farther into the background
While I read the ‘progress of ants’ by John Dempsey
