So much of my poetry grew like a phoenix, from the ashes of one of my lost loves, long ago but still remembered. This is one of them...

I wish you could look at me again
The way you used to see me
With that look of desire
Wanting to reach out and touch me
Instead of the way you look at me
Today
Seeing dinners, I don’t know how to cook
Laundry, I forgot to sort
Errands I didn’t run
Words I should never have said
And all the ones
I should have
But didn’t
I wish you could see me again thru love eyes
Touch me with love hands
Instead
Of cold eyes and impatient hands
I wish I knew how to turn back time
To when you used to look at me
With something
Other than apathy
When you could touch me
With something other than
Contempt
I wish....

Oh this is incredible.
I'm living through this now.
Did you have to capture it this well?
I do need to embrace the miracle of freedom I am offered through the dark times.
There is the promise of light on the other side.
I wish you all the love you dream.

Sue, you wove this poem beautifully and what emerged was a tapestry full of emotion. Thank you for sharing.

Be thankful the ashes and memories remain if they can inspire something this beautiful and real.
