It’s at it again folks
Storms in the Midwest
Thunder clashing and lightning flashing
Winds tearing the roofs off churches
Upending trees on the top of autos
Sending children and adults
Dashing for the basement
If they have one
I work on the sixth floor
I could think of an excuse to go downstairs
The vending machines are in the basement
But then I think of those seven floors
All above me and all very heavy
And I remember how long this building has stood
Up here on six, there is only one floor above me
To come crashing down on my head
So what do I do
Do I run or do I stay at my desk
I do what any sane person would do
In situations like this
I write a poem about it of course
And a very excellent poem,with vivd images!;-)

tornado warnings almost every night during the season,
when I lived in Illinois. One of the reasons I retired
to California!
Wow, I have yet to experience that kind of storm, if you're talking
about tornados, or even hurricanes. I was in a category one hurricane,
and that was frightening but not as strong as a two or three.
Anyway, excellent write.
The storm passed and all of mine are okay, it wasn't even a very bad one in retrospect but around here, every storm this time of year has potential for distruction and when its over, we just look around and say okay...it was just a tree, or just a roof, it can be fixed and thank God that it was only that. I don't know why i love the midwest like i do, damned storms
This is one reason I'm glad I live in California. I think I'd find a reason to work at home... lol. Your ability to write poetry while facing this is a sign of sanity. Nice jod.
