I heard a new song today
The name of it was ‘the devil at the bottom of a wishing well’
And I thought how much like my life that line was
How many times had I wanted something so bad
Only to find the cost more than I would have paid
The dark side of every bright one
Always there
The man I wanted so bad
Only to break someone else’s heart to get him
The job I cried for, but the hours
Caused a budding romance to die a natural death
The dark side of every wish
Not always
But most times
The devil at the bottom of the wishing well
Something you want so bad
Never knowing what it will cost in the end
The devil….look for him at the bottom of your wishing well

Sue, for every wish granted, pain and heartache will follow. That's the way of the world. This poem shows discovery and a lesson well learned. Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us.

can relate to!
