A Matter of Honor

It’s a matter of honor, he said
It didn’t matter that the love that inspired the promise
Had died long ago
It’s a matter of honor he insisted
Even though our hearts were breaking
Our bodies cried out to touch
But we would never do it
Because he promised to love and honor
And he never broke a promise
