I saw a man in the coffee shop this morning with needle holes in his arm and it made me start thinking about all his dreams seeping out thru those holes...anyway, that inspired this poem
There is an exit point
An open wound where every dream escapes
You hold them close to your heart
The hopes, the aspirations, the core of who you are
And what you want to be
And they gradually leak out
Leaving behind a scar
Proof that you were once young
And owned the world
That you held the future in your hand
Clutching it for all you are worth
And yet the years
The damned years of failure and hurt
Wear holes in your heart
And your dreams run away
Leaving an exit point
A scar that never heals
You certainly say it all in your very powerful write, it is extremely sad when you see situations like this, and feel so helpless. The heartache of that so many suffer, yet we no not why they elect to go this route, perhaps a deep and painful experience has sent them down this road. Only God knows, but it certainly tears at the heart to see them throw away their lives. Thank you for reminding us and bringing home the reality of the heartaches that are out there lonely and alone.
