Lies have a way of coming back and biting you on the ass, as I found out the hard way, a couple of years ago....this is a reprint, I'm not feeling too creative today
When you love each other
Most things are forgivable
I’m sorry always seems to work
Unless the I’m sorry is followed by the words
I lied
All else gets lost
The only thing heard is ‘I lied’
From that point on, nothing you say
Is true
I lied, so why should you believe
I am really sorry now
Why should you believe
That I am really telling the truth now
That anything I say is true
You wonder
How do I know you love me
How do I know you are even you
I lied
That’s all that is heard
From that point on
So what do you do
Keep on lying?
Don’t say I’m sorry?
Maybe don’t start lying in the first place
Damn
Why is that so simple now
That it is too late
And you will never believe anything I say
anyway

we all lie once in a while. To protect ourselves, not to hurt the other ... there are so many reasons for lies.
Once the trust is gone, it is hard to carry one, I agree.

A tough one indeed, but if one is prepared to listen the the whole thing and try to understand, it can make the world of difference. Life is also about forgiveness. Profound write Sue.
You unravel this prickly ball of wire admirably here, Sue, and it's never comfortable is it?! You make me flush just reading it!! Thing is, if someone has actually admitted to lying, it shows some remorse and a desire to start with a fresh slate, surely... otherwise they could just as well keep up the facade. Grey's not much of a colour though, and black and white is at least clear and defined. Good, honest and refreshing write, thank you. Kate xx

If I look like roadkill, don't tell me I look lovely... the best way to avoid guilt and regret is to tell the truth! How other's handle it is their problem. Once you commit a lie...you need to commit another...and then another to cover up the original lie...then more.....
