Child abuse at 6
Watch this mother
Beat her child senseless
On the television screen
And tell me where the sanity
In this world has gone
When children become whipping posts
Or a burden to be left forgotten
In a hundred degree automobile
In the heat of summer
A fate most people would not
Wish on their animals, much less a child
When four year olds are killed
In drive by shootings
Guilty of nothing worse than sitting up
With their parents on their front porch
When teenagers are gunned down
By policemen enforcing the law
And old men are beaten dead
For the remainder of their social security check
Where is the sanity, the reason
What kind of world are we allowing to form
And why can’t we seem to stop it
Is this the golden life that America promises
Dreams fulfilled and hopes attained
If you can live to be an adult, that is
And if you are lucky enough to be born
On the right side of the tracks
And your skin is the proper color
And your mother isn’t hooked on crack
And your father isn’t using the child support
To buy another bottle of booze
If you are lucky….isn’t that a hell of a note
For a child being born innocently into this world
If you are lucky….it all comes down to the toss of a coin
This one born here, this one born there
This one has a life, a chance, a dream
This one has bad luck….
Or no luck at all
This one has
Nothing
But
Pain and regret
He has no luck
At all

wow.......this is like reading a newspaper column......you took the headlines and turned it into a rant.........these times ae awful and violent......its scarey.......we should appreciate all we have.....and try to pass it on..........pax A
Very emotive write, it certainly is a sad day for humanity ! Unfortunately life has never been fair, the reality is that there are so many who just don't care, it's a sad and vicious circle. I hear your sadness expressed, and I too get very angry and bitter when I see such horror. Thank you for reminding us, about the evil that is so prevelant.
*tears* are the best tribute i can give--what is wrong with the picture????? you spell it out in black and white--no one cares, no one cares anymore...there are many people who want children, who would give them loving homes...and yet, everyday, you hear about another one dying at the hands of their parents. sad, sad--thank you for reminding us that children are our future, our most precious resource...
