Let's Keep It to Ourselves...

Lying awake at night listening
To the tattoo of raindrops on my roof
Thunder breaks into my thoughts
Too far away to worry, it nevertheless
Draws my attention to the weather outside
Wind howls relentlessly thru the trees
Finding crevices into which it seeps
Bringing chills to the heated night
And I snuggle closer to your warmth
Snug and safe in this nighttime haven
You have created in my life
I used to cringe and quake with storms
Ever afraid of what might come
Danger seemed to lurk so near at hand
I felt so fragile amid its fury, but now
Storms no longer bring me dread
I no longer fear their raging wrath
But knowing you will awake and hold me
I shiver in anticipation of what the storm brings
You feel my shiver and take it for fear
Pulling me safely into your arms, kissing
Me to the rhythm of the rain and wind
Offering me passion to replace my terror
And I take it with a secret smile
I’ll never tell you I’m not afraid of storms
And haven’t been for quite a while

Great images. I really like the "tattoo of raindrops" idea.
