The day went fast, speeding past me
Like the bus I almost caught, but missed
Like the youth I once squandered
Barreling by like it didn’t matter
That I needed this day to last forever
That I wanted the minutes to be hours
And the hours to turn into weeks
You were here today and gone tomorrow
So today became too precious to end
And yet the sun too soon was replaced
By a moon too big to be real
And you held me in your arms for
That last kiss goodbye and the day was over
Like it had never even begun
You were gone like you said you would be
And the love of my life was done

At least the love of your life was kind enough to kiss you goodbye. Some just disappear without any word. I can feel your pain. Good poem.

Never rush your words; let them come slowly. frenetic pace to this one--a hurry up hurry up feeling too many identify with--and shattering, unexpected conclusion that left me gasping. an excellent write!

Heart touching write, with such a sad ending but beautiful in the flow of words and emotions.
