this is fictional, i haven't done it again...but i sure do remember the feeling!

The third time is the charm
That’s what I tell myself
As I walk down that shabby aisle
In a little marriage parlor in Miami, Oklahoma
All my hopes and a seedy little bouquet
Clutched tightly in my hands
Tears staining the cheap yellow dress
I bought in a shop over on Broadway
The dress is as wrinkled as the crow’s feet
That I try to hide around my eyes
But my heart is as young as tomorrow
And the love I feel is real
Please God…
I give up my mantra to try a bit of prayer
Please God, let this be the one
As I trip my way down that aisle
Toward the man who says
He will make my dreams come true
The third time is the charm
And I pray it is
Because I don’t think I have the strength
Or the faith
To make this trip one more time

wow... i have only made that trip once... and seven years later it came to an end... i am burning out on that whole trip right now... but you capture that hopeful despair well... that is a true emotion...

Well lucky here as only one time but you took me right down the aisle here and felt the fear but also the hope that it was going to be the right one.
even on the one time here we both had some of the same fears
most enjoyable

Sue, well the third time was my charm, I sure am glad too, for I had no intentions of trying it again. I'd made my mind up it was either do or not.
But..we never know unless we try.

The third time could be the charm; go for it I'd say.

I misread the title, half-Freudian maybe, as "The Long Drop"!! This is so bittersweet, Sue, and reveals such a tender and vulnerable desire for this commitment to work... but I can't help feeling that it is commitment that NEEDS the work! We can but try, and determine to commit - if you see what I mean! Better than not, after all! This really tugged at my heartstrings. Faith and hope are the strong shoulders that put their force to the plough of fulfilled dreams. You certainly have a gift for portraying the hidden depths of the ordinary and everyday human experiences that we might otherwise take for granted and read only at a superficial level. You are a wonderful "people-watcher"! TY Kate xx

Epiphany by Gary Stephens

“We’re going to use nine megaton warheads in space and we’re not sure they’re large enough to be effective. Why would you even consider using kiloton-range surface-to-air warheads as back-up?” The answer was succinct. “Because they’re all we have.”
