I won't be around for the next few days, my favorite cousin in Alabama (see short story Gone Fishin') has cancer and my brother and I are going down to see him, maybe for the last time...he's like a brother to me, so this is so hard.
Two xanax and a glass of milk
Long way from the wild lady I used to be
Struggling with the words feels so strange
The words used to team up,
Spill out of me
Making me hurry to get them down
Before I lost them completely
Today I search my way thru the haze of the pills
Telling myself there is something here to say
And I have to say it, if I can only make the words
One in front of the other, march across the page
Soldiers on a mission, out to express something
What I’m not sure yet, but something deep
So they struggle thru the mire, the land mines
Set out to destroy those diligent young soldiers of mine
Before they say whatever it is they need to say
But if it is to be war, then war it is and my words
And I will fight to the end, bravely, maybe foolishly
But never quitting, determined to reach the goal
The successfully written poem, whatever that may be
Then desperately,
After a final struggle to get to the end
We will collapse together
Into a pile of good intentions
Exceptional. I confess that I chuckled at the first line, don't do Xanax, but definitely related to a pill regimen and struggling to make it through a haze. Seems to go around quite a bit with writers it seems. Do yo' thang, girl!
It's never over until it's over, and as long as there's life there's hope, and as long as there's hope there's a fighting chance... your work is always testimony to the worthiness of the struggle and of the will to survive and overcome any obstacle which might just want us to turn up our toes and lie down under it... You are truly an inspiration for the ways in which you both "tell it like it is" and also for the ways in which you "never give up". Love and prayers abound for you and your family at this disturbing time. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy... Bless you. Kate xx

Sue, this poetic treasure has been fought and won through your marvelous ability to guide your soldiers into battle and stand until the enemy has been defeated! Incredible timeless poetry, and I do understand what you are going through. May you and yours also all find peace and comfort together on your journey to Alabama. Hopefully you will all have many more visits together. Take good care and be well.

Love, romance, innocence, intrigue, danger, and lust. Life is complicated, and love even more so. Life, and love, can be hazardous to a lady's health. Especially if she's fallen in love with a married pop star.
In a near-future Baltimore, an unemployed bipolar journalist and a teenage hacker are the last hope for a dystopian world controlled by a giant media corporation.
and your cousin Sue. My
