I try so hard never to cross the line
And I find myself living behind that line
Cramped and inhibited
Held back by one fine line
Unable to move forward
Unwilling to go back
The line taunting me with its nearness
And my determination never to cross it
I gaze into the distance
Dreaming of what might be
Just over there
Across the line
The line I dare not cross
Because someone once told me
There some lines you must never cross
And somehow this line became the one
And I cannot cross over it
Do you understand my dilemma
Knowing there is something I must never do
And wanting with all my heart to do it
Just take a step
One little step over that line
To see what lies beyond
