It was Christmas when I knew you
In 73 or 4
Can’t remember the dates these days
So many people and so many changes
Have come my way since you
But I’ve never forgotten your face
Or the way you spoke so free
Of everything you felt and knew
Emotion pouring
Like sweat from your brow
As you spoke sometimes for hours
And I listened without regret
I had never known anyone like you
And haven’t met many since
People who aren’t afraid to say
Whatever is on their mind
Without fear of controversy
Or someone disagreeing
I thought you were a novelty
Not found much in this world
Then I joined this site on the internet
A place for poets, you would laugh
But here in this place
I have found more people
Not afraid to speak their minds
Despite what others might think
Than I ever thought possible
So what is the point of this, you might ask
I said all this to get where
Nowhere at all
I just love you all the way you are
And thought I would tell you
Don’t ever change
It is great to be able to come together in here and say how we feel, in penned prose or rhyme, has sure been a Godsend for me personally, and no doubt most of us...
Well written, and yet another display of courage and honesty.

Well done. Honesty is always refreshing, hopefully with a sense of tact.
We have to be prepared, perhaps, to be vulnerable in order to become honest, and I have found that this site and this form of "bearing one's own soul" and "letting it all hang out" has been the perfect thing at the perfect time for this stage in my own personal development - even at 47 years' old!! To be "known" in this way is not without risk, but one which I - and others who are far more brave than me - are maybe prepared to take in order to be blessed with the gain of a true sense of fraternity, acceptance - and personal discovery and growth into the bargain. I have never been happier, and I add my thanks to you and to all here for making this so... Love this, Sue... never a truer word, and all of that... LOL Kate xx
Speaking one's mind is a form of honesty, but it must be tempered by allowing others to speak their minds as well. Should I be attacked for speaking my mind, so be it. I will not regret being true to myself and to those who are important, to me, in my life. Thank you for being a willow and understanding that flexibility is the only way that people will ever be able to peacefully coexist.
Take care,
Sherry
as poets, speaking our minds is essential in conveying our point ... but when we are attacked for speaking our minds sometimes we must seek the rescue of higher influences ...

I don't know who "he" was but I'm glad you are on the den I truly enjoy your work and a writer shouldn't be afraid to write or say what's on their mind.
Those who speak their mind "without fear of controversy" should more often than not be applauded. Of course, if they are willing to speak their mind, they should also give others the same consideration without whining or appealing to authority . Great write, Sue!
Do you really mean that?? Thank you, if you do! Because I may speak my mind about "Claus-Mas", this year. I don't intend to offend, just express myself.
