I’m good
No those aren’t tears on my pillow
Over active tear ducts
The optometrist says I will be fine
In a day or two
Don’t worry, I’m good
My voice cracked you say
When we talked about your late hours
Must be a cold coming on
I stopped at the pharmacist
He said to take these pills
And I’d be fine in a day or two
So relax, I’m good
Thank you for your concern
Regarding the pain you hear in my voice
When we talk about your weekends away
I’m happy that you noticed
You so seldom do these days
But please don’t worry
It’ll be gone in a little while
Or so my analyst always says
Please go on with your day, I’m really good
Anger, you think you hear
When we talk at all these days
Now I’m really surprised you care
Or even pay attention at all
But it will fade in time
Or so my lawyer says
So start worrying now
Cause like I've always said
I'm good

I know how this feels, Sue! Touched home with this one ...
This is great, Sue. I'm sure so many people can identify with this, including myself. I'm forever the picky English critic and forgive me, but shouldn't the third stanza, eighth line be, "analyst says, or analysts say"
Utterly enthralling, Sue! I love how you composed this piece! From the start, the lone voice symbolized seperation, to me, the questions repeated and answered and the escalation of the extent of 'activities' of awayness create a 'fishp-eyed-lens feeling, like in Pink Floyd's song, 'The Final Cut', seeing "through the fish eyed lens of tear stained eyes". And, the use of 'professionals' to bolster the author's 'close-holding' emotions knocks my socks off!! A brilliant piece!
Sue I know all too well the feelings and false pretenses we endure to not show how bad we are hurt. This is a beautiful write and opening your heart to us is a brave action. Someday you will say I'm good to him and mean it till then...
Hugs from your friends on the den,

This is a lot like the song sung by Lori Morgan in which she sings about a lover that has left. Nicely put though.
