This is a reprint but it so fits the way I feel lately, I decided to repost it.
Stories used to come so easy for me
I would open my mouth to tell someone about dinner
Yesterday or the day before
And suddenly I’m telling this story
About waiters and insignificant offenses
By significant others
My sisters search for a lost book
Often became a story about life and its unsuspected
Ups and downs
Entire books could be written from one sexual encounter
If left to my own devices
I won’t exactly say I stretched the truth
The truth is that life often stretches
Into the best ideas for the silliest stories
And I could never let one pass
But lately they don’t come so easy
Maybe my life has become too boring
Or maybe my imagination is shrinking
In direct proportion to the increase
In the candles on my birthday cake
Which is another story entirely
And we’ll go into that at another time

I like that one where it says entire books could be written from one sexual encounter. Well there is this lady I know well never mind. Because if she wrote a book, wars would be started, men would have to runs for their lives etc. Excellent.

I was once told that when creative people become quiet the stories, and artwork is being taught to them unconciously and when the teaching is done and the creative one wishes to share, all will naturally come bubbling out and the creator will be puzzled to where the inspiration came from :-) But we know the answer to that if we are truly listening :-)
Sue, We all have this friction. It's like us and life aren't living on the same planet any longer. You'll find your way back..and we'll be here waiting for the next wonderful story.
This is an interesting insight into your world. I can write stories, but I am not good verbally. I condense things as much as possible because I don't want to be a bore.
Sue, as writers and story tellers our imaginations do ebb and flow like the tides. We may have periods like tsumi where we do swamp our readers with our work, other times are calm and our ouput slow or non existant, but like the tides we can always be sure they will come again.
