butterflies
rainbows
stellar horizons
why do these things not inspire me
move me to write beautiful words
in praise of their glory
I know how to rhyme
and i understand meter
I could put something together
that might sound okay
but it would be empty words
I'm not inspired
by celestial beauty
or pristine winter days
it just isn't in me
but show me a face, all glum and somber
and I can write lines
about the pain and the numbness
the despair of aging
or the loss of a lover
why do these things encourage me
when flowers leave me cold
I'm not sure but I know there is room
for all kinds of poetry
so lets do one another
You show me yours
and I'll show you mine

It would get boring really fast if we were all to write about the same thing. If a poem has heart, I enjoy it. I enjoy yours :-)

I don't write about nature either and I was contemplating that fact just this afternoon. I only use nature when it is in connection with human feelings. Good question for all of us to think about.

Wonderful words. So many things to write about, and poets know what gives them the inspiration.
