Thank God, this one isn't me yet, still have some fire left in the old furnace so far...but it sure takes alot more to stoke it these days...

deep down inside
I understand the problem
it has to do with intensity
I seem to be losing mine
what used to be red hot and fiery
is now dull pink and luke warm
my emotions have become tepid
and I dream in shades of pale
the 'I need' of yesterday
has become the 'I remember' of today
please God, if you give me nothing else in this life
give me back the heat
the wild hot fire that used to fuel my soul
let me once more feel the burn
and then I can accept this indignity
with a bit more resignation

... Be careful what you wish for, Sue!! It only takes a tiny breath to kindle even the smallest spark or "dying ember". I'm probably weird ("Yes, we know that, Kate!"), but the love of writing and poetry has "done it for me" over the past few months. Having had years of a hormone imbalance owing to a severe illness, I now find myself permanently "well-stoked and ready to roll"!! Passion, I think, therefore breeds... uh, passion?!! Always love your acute honesty - and you certainly draw it out of us, too!! :)) LOL Kate xx

Even the young can't burn as a wild fire all the time.

These times come and go.

Take care

Reading this, I thought about my father. He seems so downcast sometimes when I go and spend time with him. I liked this very much.

May we all continue to have a little fire in our furnaces!

I think the fire of passion can be aroused at any age from 16 until death if the right person, place or thought is presented.

When I get old like this poem states I will remember it, or maybe not, but then again I am old already...what the hell was I going to say...? Ed

Fires will always burn bright. Sadly, we forget to add "fuel" at times, to busy in our own little worlds.

Sue,

Don't I know it. I'm forty five years old, but my body is convinced it's 108. At least. Especially today. *Darn stiff neck LOL*

An excellent write. I hope you find the fire soon!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)

My fires have been banked for some time but they are still mighty hot, just waiting for some one to put some wood on the fire.

Well I will say that there is advantages to growing older. In that sometimes it helps when you sell antiques. They take it from an expert! Haha.

aha you ask for much, Sue. It takes someone special
to keep those fires stoked. When love abounds
all the fires burn bright. Without it we're only
lukewarm.:(

I can relate to this so much. I always
say I used to burn bright but now I've
dimmed. ;) But a wild wind shall fuel
my fire now and again.
