I walked the floor last night
The way I used to walk it when you were a baby
A pretty little blue eyed girl
My middle child
So sure of your place in the world
I thought of the time you had pneumonia
And how I stayed awake watching you
Sure that if I took my eyes off you
You would just fade away
That’s what is happening to my darling girl now
I took my eyes off you for a moment
And you have faded away
Gone is the sparkling eyes and shining hair
Gone is the smile that used to light up my world
Who is this stranger
That has taken your place
As I walked last night I wondered
Who are you
And where is my girl tonight

Been there, done that, dear Sue. Twenty years later, the
gash still bleeds. My heart goes out to you!

Whatever the cause of this anguish, it is excruciating and can only be felt if "you have been there". No one can ever tell us of the joys and pains of parenthood - like love it can only be experienced! You have penned the atmosphere and emotion of such moments so well here, Sue. As children, we grow up, but as parents, we are so for the rest of our lives... hopefully this is a developmental blip and I truly hope and pray that nothing more sinister is at the root of this. Bless you and cover your daughter with prayer or whatever your interpretation of that "up-lifting her" thought might be. We "share" faith because, sometimes, we just don't have enough of our own to cover us!! Bless both you and her. LOL Kate xx

Oh Sue I know what you mean... I am a mother of four (had five but one died at the age of six)
And you know we were expecting my one son to die after his heart stopped 3 times in one night...but one moth later the healthy one of the batch fell from the jungle Gym at school and died under surgery.
Now today he is a grown up man almost 28 years old...but he is still that little child when he gets ill!!
But his nice personality changed...he became his father!!

Love Tinka

That "mother, knife in the heart thing" never leaves us. I know the feeling. Although this is a sad write, you have expressed yourself well.

Nothing could be more sad than for us to see one
we love so much having problems. We feel helpless
with the frustration of being unable to do anything.
I hope and pray things get better soon...
