That Woman!

I glanced back over my poem Wanton and wondered what had brought that on and I suddenly realized it was the new girl from down in accounting, you women may know the type, so exquisitely feminine you almost find yourself offering her your chair, so you can imagine how the men react. I thought I was old enough to not be this insecure but for just a moment she made me feel like this...

She walked in the room
She didn’t have to do anything else
She walked in
And suddenly I became more overweight
More dowdy, unsure of myself
She walked in
And I was sixteen again
Walking into the girls restroom
And finding it full of cheerleaders
I was awkward, gawky
Wanting nothing more than to go away
Somewhere that I was sure of myself again
Somewhere that I knew my value
And acted on it
She walked in
And suddenly I needed reassurance I haven’t needed
Or wanted in years
Validation of myself as a woman
Proof that I’m still desirable
How can a woman do this to me
Just by being who she is
And looking like she does
What does it say about me
And who I am

That's a green eyed monster holding a distorted mirror in front of your mind. Lots of thought in these lines

If she's all that, I have a friend (nudge nudge wink wink) who'd love an introduction... :)

touching Sue and well expressed. For those who are better looking and have more than I, I view it as just life. There are alwys those better looking and with more. Life can be very uncomfortable always focusing on such. But I understnd your poem very well. Every time a see a super neat sports car, it makes me want one also. I get in my little truck and fantasize. Life can be tough at times. G

I am one of those that believe that true beauty comes from within, although I know how such feelings are. I have felt them too. One thing for sure, whatever you may think of yourself, you are a wonderful poet and this work proves it. Well done.

Sue, you sure are jumping subjects tonight but doing it so well. This one is a good statement that also applies to both genders, how is it that we can let our vanity affect all theother qualities of our life.

A good write Sue.

Felix
