The trouble with being sick is that you have too much time to think...

It’s not easy being introspective
When it isn’t in your nature
Opening doors that want to remain closed
Stepping on toes that often as not
Turn out to be your own
Discovering skeletons in your own closet
When you weren’t even aware you had the closet
You just don’t always like what you find
Or find what you like
But if you dig deep enough
You’ll find treasures you weren’t expecting
You will dust off dreams you had forgotten
And expose parts of yourself until now kept hidden
Baring yourself is not always comfortable
Even when you are alone but
If you look long enough and dig deep enough
I’d like to think that you will not be disappointed
With the person that you get to know

Yeah I know the feeling well...wrote some crazy stuff when I had the flu, but people seemed to like it. This is no exception...a wonderful, thought-provoking poem, Sue.

Hopefully, we won't, but it truly is frightening when we do discover skeletons in closets we never even knew we had!

Sue, this is one of your best. It is amazing that you wrote this. I feel like it is for me. I had a session with my counselor and the subject was learning to love myself.

Brava Sue! Excellent poem! You are very wise! When we dig deep we are all more, than we usually give ourselves credit for.

Yes this is a very sage piece of advice and rediscovering family through the things that you thought they did not remember. Certain mememtos like the old love letters and postcards trigger something that comes out and is written so well like this is.

Perhaps if we don't like what we find Sue we need to look just a little deeper or even open another closet door, This one sure gets one to thinking though.

Aw, you have the right slant on it, Sue, but I dare say, myself included, if we look honest enough we can always find that we are not the most wonderful fellow/lady that we like to project to the world. Just speaking honestly and from where I sit. There are the good, too, sure and I like to hold onto them close to myself. Good "introspective" poem. LOL
