Angels Haunt Her

She used to have dreams
Bright pretty things
That she took out and looked at
When she was a bright pretty thing
Now she sits on a curb
Feeling as dirty as the street around her
All she has is nightmares
And that’s when she’s still awake
She tried to be the girl her mama wanted
She just never seemed to get it right
Until she finally gave up
And she finally gave in
And now angels haunt her
She sees them everywhere
She knows they are watching her
And it makes her more ashamed
Than anything has ever done
In her short sordid life
Angels haunt her
Every where she goes
She wants to ask them to help her
But she isn’t sure they are real
The angels that haunt her
Look just like she used to look

True poetic imagery enriches this composition to convey a message of teleological contents.

Perspective is everything... I hope those Angels will ultimately get through to her that she is the little girl STILL that they remind her of.. that they come not to judge her, but to help her get back on track... that she is not irredeemably lost... that they will never let her go... Bless you - and her!! LOL Kate xx

I sense sunlight at the end of this little girl's tunnel, in that the angels care enough about her, to be constantly present. She will be okay, when she forgives herself and releases her feelings of guilt. Well done, Sue! Intriguing and well written.

They are real, Sue. Listen to them... they will echo the essence of you, which looks exactly like it has always and will always look.
An excellent write, filled with poignant imagery that flows from inner realms.

very strong write... sometimes, the messages we receive as children stay with us a lifetime, and no matter how hard we try, they just won't leave... until we finally believe mom (or dad) was right, and we surrender to the shaming messages, becoming who they wanted us to be... but somewhere, buried deep inside, an angel awaits to be awoken... great message...

Perhaps every day is a chance to be somebody's angel.
And perhaps more than you know it, somebody's angel has been you.
Very sad touching write.

A much heartfelt write, Sue. "What was" and "what is" seem to be of much haunting to us all.

The way to rid of "what was" for us is to realize "what is" and its value. Once we've put the value in "what is" we will then begin to enjoy "what is".

"What is" is a value that only we ourselves can put on it; and I hope all of use can use proper judgment when we judge ourselves.

Great write sis, and it is very chilling. For many years those same angels haunted me too. It is sad when the mother gives to outside pressure and isn't strong enough to take real measures. But I can be grateful for a lot of things in life, I am the girl I was born to be, only in a diffferent body, I had some good times before I was forcibly taken from my home, my friends and my school, I was taught how to be a girl, by girls, and I have all of the Den here as my friends, sisters and brothers. I have regained my faith in the Lord, and I believe deeply in the power of prayer. May the Lord be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love, peace, & (((HUGS))) ... Barbie

Sue this is chilling, but looking and reading between the lines I can tell you that the two lines that are wrong are the ones pertaining to her mother. I believe her mother did the best she could but some things just cannot be controlled. Otherwise a poigant write full of compassion and insight.

Quite chilling and quite sad, Sue, and there are probably many souls in this life who could use an angel or two - human or spiritual.

You made me see this little girl as she sat on the curb, unloved, unwanted. You made me understand why she was there. You damn near made me cry. But I'm a guy, I don't do that. Very, very good, Sue Hess.
