There is no bitterness in this poem and I am not trying to stir up emotions, I just can't help writing about what I think about...
Someone recently said I was an idiot
Made me start to think
Am I
No not for the reason he implied
I’m just a woman who has to open her mouth
If she agrees or doesn’t agree
Doesn’t matter
Just can’t keep quiet and go with the flow
But am I an idiot
I am blindly loyal to friends
Sometimes to my detriment
I am insanely avid about rights
Both mine and those of others
I am determined to try and see both sides
Of any issue that arises
Which sometimes leaves me teetering
On that fence in between
But am I an idiot
I’ve never made a smart decision about love
Although I’ve loved some wonderful people
And although its hard to get me started
I find it almost impossible to stop
Does that make me an idiot
Maybe
Who knows
If being an idiot, is speaking honestly about our beliefs, then there are a lot of idiots... It takes an act of courage, to speak your mind, when you know it goes against popular belief... idol? yes... idiot? no

No Sue your not an idiot, try not to take on board what others may say or think...they are usually masking their own insecurities and failings. It is always wise to be objective in any argument and to use wisdom with courage.
i made a comment about that remark ... to have a differing viewpoint does not make an idiot only being not being able to accept the diversity of how others see things ...
I think people who call others idiots are either ignorant or idiots;-)
I guess we all have our moments Sue, but I wouldn't sweat it, I've been called a lot worse;-)goes with the territory, even if it shouldn't!

When I saw the title, I thought blimey someone can spell my name correctly..
It means you have a masters degree in the university of life.
It's taken me 42 years to perfect being a total idiot. Yet it only took Ed k, weeks...
Don't let it start you on the downward spiral of morbid introspection, that leads to a pity party.
Just say what the heck.
If you were an idiot how come you could do what no other has with the little accrostic

Not an idiot at all. Only closed minded, selfish, insecure people call others idiot in a mean hurtful way.
I mean we all do silly things at times, makes us shake our heads and roll our eyes at ourselves, but... geeze
I love this poem. Magnificent strong and powerful message. Thank You!
We are all individuals right or wrong in anyone's eyes as long as the eyes in the mirror that look us in the eyes is content and comfortable with the goodness and kind soul they see, that my dear, is all that matters. 'Cause your soul is all you take with ya when you leave this world.
You are NOT an idiot. You're a good and loving lady.
I love ya just the way you are. Even if you do catch me with the titles having 2 meanings in them. "Come again" lol

Well don't feel by yourself I have been called that and worse and yes some hate it when a woman speaks up. So I guess we are all a lot of lovely bunch of cocoanuts.
Oh to be an idiot for the right reasons...I'm with you all the way. Maybe we should form a club declaring it sexually desireable to be an idiot! We could start a new trend Sue! It's a great write, and I am here to say after reading your work, you are no idiot. :-) Michelle

i've known for several years here on AD, but i don't know you "personally". however, my opion is..."Your an Idiot" :)
just like we ALL are. you're sweet, kind hearted and caring. you share your thoughts & feelings. anyone who does that openly ain;t too smart. but, i'm glad to consider you my Friend.
If it does then you have a lot of friends on the den here Sue who are also idiots and I'll be the first to put up my hand. Well spoken and very true write.
