Scary Dream

I woke last night from a scary dream
Not a nightmare
Just a dream that scared me to death
I dreamed I was young again
And had to do it all over
Learning
Growing up
Failing to grow up
Loving you
Losing you
It was all there, in that dream
The nightmare of sixteen again
The horror of my twenties
The failure of my thirties
I’m going to stop there
This is a poem
Not truth or dare
Let’s just say it was no fun dream
That being me those years
Was something I never want to be again
And leave it at that
Just a scary dream
Thank God

It probably would be very scary for any of us to have to re-live some of our past.

I hear ya...maybe if it was one of those pads with that cellophane paper that you lift up and erase the image completely and go back and start totally new it might be okay...nah...it is still hell...the struggle makes us strong...no, the struggle is just that...a struggle...GREAT poem

To have to relive some of the events in my life would indeed be a scary dream to me. I think I could also find some very good dreams from my past as well. I lived it and I survived, no need for me to walk that pathway again. We live, we learn and we go on living. Interesting write, Sue. Makes me think about alot of what got me to this place today.
Take care,
Sherry

a scary dream sometimes has a warped sense of humor ... maybe it should called it a laughmare ...

Been having a few scary dreams myself lately. Here's to beautiful dreams, Sue and make it an erotic one! ;)

Sue,

Are we not the exact sum total of all our life experiences, be they good or ill? I struggle with that notion as well, but would gladly relive the horrible pain to be here as I am once more...

Excellent articulation of an ancient pasttime.

oh yes Sue
I do see what you meant!
this is a grand poem on self reflection
things that won't vanish from memory!
This is deep stuff here (mine was meant to poke fun at myself)

the only thing worse than that dream is the one where you wake up, roll out of bed, go through your morning routine, get stuck in traffic on the way to work, and when you get there, you wake up...and do it all over again...

Sue your plight wasn't funny but I had to laugh after reading this because I feel the same way. Great poetic piece in my eyes. G

Sue, real good poem. Frightening. I've often said I wouldn't be a teenager again, 9-19, for $1,000.00 USD a day plus expenses. Henry

I appreciate your down-to-earth style, Sue. Arn't you glad you're where you're at in life?! Would I go back? For one glorious moment I can think of, otherwise I love being the age I am...

Dreams can be so real that they haunt for days. This sounds like one of those;-) I had one too not long ago about when I was married, and it was not one I ever want to have again.
Great write Sue!
