I sometimes forget
My life has moved on so much
I hardly ever think of the past
And the things I should never forget
But then I’ll look down
And see the scars on my arms
The horror comes back
Fleeting
But heartfelt
And I remember
Oh God how I remember
excellent poem, Sue. you've got a real knack for getting right to the point in a way that carries power and emotional impact but doesn't overwhelm. nicely done.
in a way, you're lucky. some of us have nothing to remind us of the things we should never forget, so quite often, we take a backslide. i have faith you never will.

Some memories are sweet ones to remember and treasure always, others are ones to learn from and then bury and let the past give way o the present. Good write here Sue.
