Singing My Life

Haunting music skipping thru my mind
Eerie in its familiarity
Wildwood flower strummed on an old
Flat
box guitar
too far back to really remember
I feel it instead
Somewhere inside me
Running thru my body like the blood in my veins
Music of my past
Forming a collage of thoughts
That never quite complete
And never quite stop
Always there
Past and present
Blending in perfect harmony
Music of then and now
Form the background of my life
A perfect palette
On which to blend my future colors
Tones and hues
An artistic symphony
Playing the song
Simply titled
ME

music has always been part of my life, my earliest memories are of my mother singing beautiful, beautiful brown eyes (she had to sing one verse for my brown eyed sister, then change it to blue eyes for me) or strumming the wildwood flower on her guitar. i never knew the words to wildwood flower, only the tune but i just googled the words and they are beautiful too, haunting, the way i remember the melody. i want to thank all of you for putting up for me during my down time recently and to let you know things are looking up. i luv u guys!

Exquisite, Sue! I've been playing the music of my past and pondering where I've been and where I'm going. This write plucks those feelings perfectly...

What better song could there be and just happens to be my instrument of choice.

I will spend the remainder of the day singing, "I will twine, I will mingle my raven black hair/ with the roses so red and the lilies so fair."
You've touched the six strings so well.

Another winner with this one, Sue. I often wonder if I'm a frustrated musician. Perhaps you are too. :-)

"Form the background of my life A perfect palette On which to blend my future colors Tones and hues" Beautiful, insightful lines here. I really like this poem. I think that all of us are highly affected by sounds, smells, sights from our pasts. You expressed this well.

Music is soothing and worth remembering. I haven't been able to sing or hum a modern song since the Beatles Yesterday. What a loss
