Enough, I Say

I smiled once this week
So give me a break
How much mirth
Can this poor cynic take
I guess it won’t hurt
To have had me some fun
But give me the clouds
I hate too much sun
I write from the heart
But no matter what I say
I just can’t help it
If my color is gray
I wrote a happy poem
So back to the status quo
Poems so dark, in their shadow
Mushrooms can grow
Dark is my nature
I just can’t help it
I start out with roses
But it soon turns to s**t

Wonderful write, Sue. Not every poem is sunny and that is okay. We poets write from the hearts. Good job!

"But give me the clouds

Ahhhhhhh... kindred spirit O' mine! Them's my kinda wishes, too.

Now, Sue, there is self-effacing and THEN there's that last line up there. Sigh... your assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to reread this... I dare you not to find the great worth that I found. Your meter and rhyme are flawless. You've penned with simplicity and rendered impact! There's truth and humanity in them thar words, madam. Why, I almost saw your tongue in your cheek. Yep! I read it twice! (smile) katy xox

dark and light are the same thing...they are just seperated by shades of gray...gray sounds nice..right in the middle.

Portrayed the blues so well!

"I smiled once this week
So give me a break ..."

Love that! Sometimes, we do feel like that! "Just let me be!" you want to scream. Aaagh!! Well penned, Sue!

God bless,

Sandie.

Even shit is wonderful fertilizer for your roses. Just watch out for the little pricks on the stems.
