Baby Girl...

If I could make you well baby girl
I would take my heart from my chest
And hand it to you on a silver platter
If I could guarantee that the rest of your life
Would be what it should be
I would give up the rest of mine
To make it happen
If only….
But what I won’t do anymore
No matter how bad it hurts to say this
Is to enable your behavior
By not controlling mine
I will no longer give you money
Because I want you to eat
When I know
It goes for drugs instead
I will no longer make excuses
For the things you do
And the things I failed to do
Hurting you
While trying to salve my own guilt
Better we do this now
No matter how bad it hurts
Cause I can’t keep living this way
Dying slowly
While you kill yourself
Every day
Both of us saying I’m sorry
But not changing a damned thing
Its time
For that tough love I keep hearing about
And the tough part
Will be as much for me
As it will for you
Baby girl
Grow up

your heart must ache with such a decision, but surely it is the right one. I love that you don't shy away from writing about the hard parts of life, Sue. take care and be strong, Dawn

Sue,

It takes courage to love your children with tough love. But sometimes, it is needed...painful to read, but empowering at the same time...may this be the jump start to a better future, for both of you. You are in my prayers, you and your baby girl.

(((((HUGS))))) and love, Karla.

Painful. Painful. Painful. Such truth and harsh reality hurts. But it is good that you can share this. Thank you for this gift. Love and peace to you.

Tough Love - a truly sad part of life sometimes, but unfortunately, very often needed, Sue.

This is a sad poignant write knowing where it is coming from. There is nothing harder on the heart strings then to have to say no to our children even when it is foe their own good. Be brave Sue I know you are struggling.

No matter how old they are, we, the mothers, still care about them. They will always be our "Baby Girl". Hope things will turn out for the better between your baby girl and you.

A heartful of parental love in this one you write. Very touching indeed!

Sue, You have written something I know a little about!]
Besides the fact that you have written this like a master;
You point is well understood and it's the only position a loved one
can take. It's incidious and there drags you right in ,...it's not her fault ! IT'S THE DISEASE! That is why I am backing you up!
I know people who have lost their loved one's for notloving tough enough!!!!!
be blessed ! y

That's right. Cut the umbilical cord and sit down to a nice meal. I too have had friends and relatives dine on poison ... cut their lines across the glass-topped kitchen table and laughed at their razor-blade and powder lifestyle thinking it is us who have the problem. Take a look at my tarot card The Navel, Sue. And then cut it loose. Blessed Be.
