This time of year used to depress me
Maybe its because everything seemed to have a price tag
I’m not even sure why that bothers me so much
There was a time I had one too
Back before I figured out that what I was selling (sex)
Was not what they thought they were buying (me)
And what it was actually costing me (self-respect)
Was more than what I was getting (dollars)
Maybe that’s why it bothers me so much
These price tags every where I look
I learned the hard way that what you are buying
Is not always what you are getting
And what you are getting, is not always worth
What it is costing you or anyone else
So look real hard at those bargains
In the stores and in life
Make sure they are made to last, good quality
Something you won’t regret in the next day’s light
And you can learn a valuable lesson for life
When you buy those little Christmas ceramics
It’s easy to stick a price tag on something
It’s a lot harder to get it off the next day
You can scrub and scrape but it sticks still
And so does what you experience in your life
So make good choices, be sure you won’t be ashamed
When the price tag refuses to scrub off the next day
Great message Sue but I'm sure that this was not an easy write. The overt message did not conceal the deeper meaning within. Wisdom is gained through experience. It's such a pity experience is usually tough.

Beautiful Sue! Aboslutely Beautifully Wise. Where were these words 35 years ago? Put this on google and send it to schools and shelters and the papers, too.
Thanks so much!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

We too often sell ourselves never even realizing it until it's too late. Then the effects are not washable, and unlike that shirt, it doesn't shrink either, it grows way bigger than we are or ever were.
Great write Sue!
A POWerFUL write on self-respect! Money as a whore ruins the human soul. When we prosper naturally, we are using a holistic approach within a win-win position. We do NOT need to rely on selling ourselves out, taking from, or exploiting others. Money is defined as a medium of exhange. Would you want to exchange your body and its inner spirit for money in payment for sex? The message here is the world is full of dirty money. Self-respect is the cleanest aspect of any life. Thanks Sue, for the holiday advice. I consider it my gift that I unwrapped before Xmas! Happy holidays to you and your family. Give my Goddess prayers to Deb. "An it harm none, do what ye will."
