For those of you who might be interested, Deb has been clean and sober for over two months now, has a full time job across the street from my house and is being her sweet self again. I pray every night...Thank you and please let it last...
I pick up a pair of socks
And glance into my sparkling kitchen
She cleans like a whirlwind
Then sleeps for hours
She plays on the computer
For hours on end
Then comes in and hugs me
Telling me she can’t thank me enough
For the warmth of her bed
I look at her ten times a day
And thank God
That she’s home
For Christmas
And whatever comes after

A speaker at AA stood up before the group of alcoholics to demonstrate to them the evils of alcohol. The speaker had two identical containers of clear fluid, saying one contained pure water and the other contained pure alcohol. The speaker put a small worm in the container of clear water. It swam around and headed for the side of the glass and crawled to the top of the glass. The speaker then put the same worm in the container of alcohol. The worm disintegrated right before their eyes. The speaker asked what the moral was. Someone replied, "If you drink alcohol, you will never have worms." Although this is humor and intended to reflect the original moral of what excessive alcohol does to one's system, I am so proud of Deb for being out of her chemical dependency. Sue, you helped Deb crawl her way out and it is up to her to stay out. With a caring mother like you, she has more of a chance than most to stay clean. One day at a time and keeping the glass sparkling and clean. The kitchen is a good place to start.
Sue, I can't tell you how happy this makes me for you! I will continue to pray,that what comes after is more of today, one day at a time, and may your Christmas be merry and bright, with a New Year full of new joy!
I am so happy for you Sue and I hope all continues as good as it is today, wonderful news for any parent.

Good news, indeed. Been there. Done that. It is easier than most people think, but it depends on one thang and one thing alone, and that is just how you have your priorities for the rest of your life lined up. Priorities. That's it. I shall say a prayer myself for this to be the end of the other life. Prayer? Me? Yup, sometimes when I feel I have something worthwhile to pray for. This fits that criteria.
