I just have to say
That no matter what else happens
I love the almost
That we were
The dreams that were right out of reach
The happiness at our fingertips
Yet so far away
The sense of pleasure that brushed us
In the night
And fled with the first morning's light
I love the almost
That was us
Out
There on the edge
Of what really is

Ahhhh Sue, I think you captured somthing real here. As we get older and supposedly wiser sometimes we can look back and see that the things that made our lifes and loves special were the things that were almost. A whilwind passionate sexual encounter in the middle of the night with a complete stranger that you never see again could become a romantically treasured memory for all time for example. So you captured at least to me this notion very well.

This makes the reader think sis. This is really a very good poem about a love that was almost. We can have a partner for the night, but then that partner leaves first thing in the morning, and a yearning still lingers in us, for more. May the Lord bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, maybe too stubborn for my own good, joy to the world, peace on earth, & (((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your sister Barbie

Tantalisingly short of perfection, how often have we all been there Sue
