I woke this morning with tears on my cheeks Asleep I’m not sure what dreams visit Or for what sadness these tears are shed I only know that somewhere in sleep Pain touched my heart and I shed tears And waking I feel cleansed and fresh So I’ll not worry from whence these tears came I will accept them as I accept the spring rain Washing the horizon clean and leaving A touch of freshness to my life Maybe sad nights are just washday Mondays And in morning we can hang those sorrows Out in the sunshine to dry and start new With tear free mornings
