I wasted a lot of time
And many brain cells in the sixties
Trying to find myself
Only to find myself growing older
And smarter
As we all must
In spite of ourselves
The seventies brought more change
I bought a bra
And left behind the flowers
And much of the power
I believed I had
The eighties came with an education
And a career of sorts
I left behind me the drugs
And let alcohol rule the day
I stumbled but seldom fell
I was finding my way
When the nineties arrived
I gave up cigarettes and booze
Because I was enlightened at last
And left a part of myself behind
With that bottle and that butt
A part I sometimes miss
But never enough to return
I was an adult at last
Fifty but still looking back
Now here I sit firmly in the millennium
Wondering where my life is going
Now that I’ve left the past behind
Wondering who this lady is
Looking back at me in my mirror
And bemoaning the passing of time
Haven’t I grown smarter and better with age
Able to survive and thrive
In a time when many don’t
What do I have to cry about
As these tears run down my face
One of a few who remember being part of the sixties..
Flower power to you Sue...

Your journey through your life showed great determination to grow and learn. I think we always get melancoly and teary when we sit long enough to grasp how fast life is slipping by. Nice work.

Yes, it is a journey to ourselves and you summed this up well.
Bravo! A beautiful introspective and sharing Sue! Whenever we think we are the only ones we find through writes such as this that we all do more or less of the same things through life's journey. The important thing is how we wind up. Believe me winding up with tears but still maintaining your present status, is a huge success!I pray you stay wise and continue your ever upward journey! Thank you, Sue!
I think we all bemoan the passing of time Sue; it seems to me you have grown a great deal, learned a lot and are continuing on the never ending journey. Thank you for sharing yourself so honestly. Love and peace to you,

What if you were named as heir to a Will that you knew nothing about and members of your family were being kidnapped and tortured for information they didn't have? What if you went to the police only to find out the Russian Mafia and your own govern
