Her days are full with work and kids
She thanks God for the light
When she can keep her pain in check
She only cries at night
Her life was once so happy
He was always her heart’s delight
He filled her life with passion
Now she only cries at night
On September 11th she died with him
although she knows it isn’t right
she hides it from everyone she knows
And only cries at night
She knows she needs to share her grief
To get help winning the fight
To keep on moving every day
And to stop crying every night
She knows there must be someone
Who knows this widow’s plight
But she just can’t seem to reach out
So she still only cries at night

Yes agree with Susan, to suppress tears and pretend happiness is the ache of all aches.

My loss was not due to September 11th but indeed this is what its like to a widow... I can't imagine having to deal with the circumstances of that day as well. Well written piece.

Tragic... the loss just goes on and on, further compounding the shock and disbelief. Your stark repetitions work well to bring the relentlessness of the pain home, Sue. Dulling and souldestroying. TY for keeping this burden always before our eyes here. LOL K xx

On September 11th she died with him

I sadly believe that's true for far too many.
