The Grass Widow Soliloquy

You know I’ve been married to this thing I call reality
For just too damned long
Sleeping every night with the same truths that my mother
Handed me to chew on when I was cutting my teeth
Washing the soiled laundry of a society I didn’t dirty
Feeding insecurities with monotonous meals of half lies
And semi truths from religions that no longer satisfy
Day after day the same diet growing bland and unappetizing
As I grow fat and complacent from the excesses I no longer see as
Unnecessary.
I want a divorce, a total change from this thing called reality
Not a brief affair with high aspirations, only to return more
Restless and unfulfilled than before; not a dreamlike sabbatical
From this uncomfortable alliance but a clean cut, a new world
Where off spring of creativity and ambition stand a chance to grow
I want to experience the heady joy of the intercourse of two minds
Flowing along the same paths of existence, without the yokes of obligation
And commitment…merging in a union of common interests
Crying out in one voice, in absolute harmony…as we come together
In complete understanding….

very well said, reality can sure have its boundries. and i think a little fantasy keeps all of us sane.

i am a great enthusiast of dreams and fantasies but escapism is not an answer for the masses, if we all escape into another form of reality, this one in which we truly exist will continue to erode, we have to actively look for ways to change the reality of where we live and how it sustains our minds as well as how the environment sustains our bodies, if we don't worry about it tomorrow will be sadder than today

"Married to reality" and "Flowing along the same paths of existence, without the yokes of obligation..." make this one a real standout to me.

Hope so.

Reality sucks that's for sure. Another wonderful diatribe, you seem to have a gift for nailing it right on the head! Another great piece of truth. The intercourse you speak of seems to be long forgotten. Maybe that's why we do it here. Meaningful discusion is all but lost on the populus. Gregg

I've always thought that my dream world is better than reality. It's some place I can go and find myself.

This is awesome write, Sue. How many of us don't dream? We all dream, and we all have a place to go and make ourselves feel comfortable.

You had to hit home didn't you? This conjured up old dusty memories of when I felt trapped by reality and forced into things I could not easily accept. I am glad that I was finally able to withdraw into my own little world filled with incredible highs and a new perspective on the world. Fantastic write Sue.
