Is Someday in March or April?

I’m incorrigible
I make promises
That I have no intention of keeping
And I make these promises
To me
No one else
I regularly look at myself
And decide to change
Doesn’t matter what change
Just something
Different
And I mean it sincerely
But I wake up everyday
To the same old me
I’m beginning to not trust me
I lie
Every time I look in the mirror
And promise to start walking
Tomorrow
To have that facial
Next week
To eat better
Someday
I wonder where someday is on the calendar
I never seem to get there
Oh well
How is your day

Loved this write Sue, it hits many at home...for I think we are all much alike...I too make myself these promises, only I don't make them long term, this way deep down I know I don't have to abide by my promise for very long, and I fall off the diet wagon, excercise wagon, and so on....I am on my third day of healthy eating, and parking on the far side of the parking lot, trying to get in more excercise...and such...we'll see! Enjoyed this well written poem much!
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling

Why the guilt trip? I know you didn't intend to insult me (smile).

I must say that I love to read poetry and anything that comes from the human heart especially if it is meaningful as this one is. It is always an indeed pleasure to read such fine and well written work that touches us all in a different way. Thanks for sharing with me and many others. Blessings and peace always to you

Sue, this sounds a lot like me too. I'll diet next week, I'll take better care of myself, I'll de-stress when I have time..and on and on (LOL). Oh well, at least the intention is there right? That's a start! Liked this one a lot Sue.
Hugs, Laura

To be able to admit to being human and having these faults is the first step in not giving up but knowing you can if you really decided you wanted to is a great relief to keep in mind.
