The thing is
Most men don’t have a clue
What it is we women want…oh hell truth is
We don’t know half the time either
But once in awhile
And I really mean once in a great while
We get a glimmer
Just a glimpse of the truth
Do we want love everlasting, faithful for life
Oh we’ll take it if we find it
We might even think it is what we want
A man who is there every night
Who works and supports us, who loves and believes in us
Sure sounds good to me…make mine with fries

But is it what we really want

Or is it the hunt we really crave
The adrenalin surging, pheramone sniffing…no holds barred hunt
After all
Arent’ we the huntress, dressed in animal pelts, long hair streaming behind
Bare legs flashing as we run thru forests and jungles
Following the prey
His scent
Following his trail as he tries to hide
Hearing his ragged breath as he tries to escape
Seeing the fear, the resignation in his eyes when he sees he is trapped
Isnt’ that the thrill we really live for
Is there ever a moment as heady, as intoxicating as that thrill of a fresh kill
Another notch on the lipstick case
We are the huntress, it is our instinct to follow
As much as it is his to run, to evade, to try to escape
Knowing all the while
That there is no escape
The hunt…so wonderful
Maybe that’s why we let them go so often
Releasing them back into the wild
To be hunted again…and again
And all this time they thought they were getting away
Escaping….
They just don’t seem to see, as wonderful as they are
Their shelf life sucks, better to catch and release

This poem is indicative of the mores of the 21st century . . . but what happens when the huntress becomes the hunted?! Grin.

I see that John (Reader) definitely has no clue. I wonder how many times he has been thrown back. It is as Bob Lind said in his song Elusive Butterfly: "Don't be concerned, it will not harm you, it's only me pursuing something I'm not sure of, across my dreams, with nets of wonder, I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love." (Elsuive Butterfly by Bob Lind, World Pacific 77808, 1966).

And as women we do chase that bright elusive butterfly of love, and some butterflies we release back into the wild, only to be caught in another net.

Nice offering in a humorous way. Thank you for sharing sis.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. with much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), sister Barbie

This is an excellent piece of truth about relationships. Women always try to be on the offensive: blame, complain, accuse etc. Men, on the other hand, are on the defensive: escape, excuse and evade.

Thank you Sue, This is wonderful.
