The heat index is 105 here in Missouri, this seemed like an appropriate poem...
Why, if I’m so drawn to the fire
Do I hurt so badly from the burn
The glow always pulls me close
The warmth sucking me into its path
Teasing me with promises of comfort
Making me crave its touch
Wanting so badly to feel the heat
To revel in the passion and ecstasy
Of a fire that burns into the very heart of me
Reaching inside me to warm the places
That have been cold for way too long
But as I give in to the blaze
Walking open eyed into the furnace
I always come out singed, heart
And soul cracked and oozing
Burned black and fried to a crisp
Damn…why am I so drawn to the fire
When I hurt so bad from the burns
Lots of sun block sis. It seems we are drawn to everything that isn't good for us; fast food, carbonated beverages, candy that is more sugar than flavor, sun bathing with lots oflotion, but no sun block, and lots more.

The heart is resilient...even in sweltering heat. But you know how it is...in Winter...we cannot wait for the heat of summer. The heat arrives and we cannot wait until cool season. The body, mind and heart craves what it wants...even love if it means we shall burn. Love the metaphorical aspect of this line of questioning.
