Teach me the wisdom of the universe

I begged of my teacher

Grasshopper, you must grasp the world

Clench it in your hand and turn it to dust

Before you can brush it away, leaving yourself

Clean and refreshed

What the hell did he just say?

Why is it all the deep stuff goes over my head

I watch David Carradine faithfully

I would have shaved my head if it would have helped

But I was at least smart enough to skip that

But I never knew what the hell

The old bald guy was telling grasshopper

The universe that rested briefly on my shoulder

And flew away with the grace of a butterfly

Left me feeling baffled and covered in bug shit

What is with this great enlightenment thing anyway

And where is my inner light, my karma or my yin (or is it yang)

I want to be grasshopper and soak up all that wisdom

Instead I’m just a common housefly

Leaving specks wherever I land, irritating those I touch

And waiting for that big flyswatter in the sky

Sue I am just a country boy. Don't know a dag nabbed thing about the ying and yang but a hell of a lot of the ding and the dang, and even more about the cong and the dong. So if you need teachings in one of those areas, (you pick which one) I am ready to serve your every whim. Just whistle. YOu know, just pucker up your lips and whistle. Bill
